Fundraising Overview
The general overview of the events this year is as follows:
·November 1- December 6 online auction
·November/December holiday wreaths
·Sat in January or February TBD Penguin Plunge
·March 12-14 Hockey Tournament
For the online auction, we use the platform www.Biddingforgood.com
Traditionally, we have assigned summer “homework” (due sometime in the first month of school) of three or more (the more the merrier!) potential auction items. This mission is ultimately a challenge to explore the things you and your family love to do. With Covid protocols, purchasing an “experience” (BnB stays, tickets to events, recreation passes, etc) may not be appropriate.
Please consider the following replacements:
·Items like artwork, collectables, unique décor, kitchen appliances culled from your home
·Businesses you are connected to and if, given the difficult time we are in, they would be willing to donate a gift card or item
·Family and/or friends’ special expertise. (For example, current student Giles has donated chopped and stacked firewood in the past- a hot ticket item :)
·What is special to you? How might that appeal to an online audience?
Please know how grateful we are for your participation, your flexibility, and your support of NBS. We will take everything one step at time with, always, safety of our immediate and extended community as a driving factor. Luckily, we may be able to translate to an online model without too much sacrifice of integrity.

- December wreath sales will have to shift to an online order form which means you may need to track down email addresses of friends and family. And we will also have to see what’s safe and logical in terms of “delivery.”
- The Penguin Plunge, on a Saturday afternoon in January or February, is about taking pledges and then taking the plunge in the pond at Rose and Tal’s house. (It’s hard to even think what reality will be this far out!)
- The best thing about the Hockey Tournament, scheduled for March 12-14, is the involvement of so many people in the greater community. Two hundred people are in and out of the Memorial Sports Center competing, celebrating and supporting our school. If it happens this year (we needed to cancel last year) we will send out a signup sheet that asks for help with setup, breakdown, concessions, announcing, etc. and also ask parents to solicit sponsors.
